Bill Biddle, longtime Methow Valley resident and “Weather Watch” columnist for the News, was remembered at an informal gathering last Sunday at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle, where a bench was dedicated to his memory. About 25 of Bill’s family, friends and former students followed a bagpiper through the park to the new bench, which affords an unobstructed view west across Shilshole Bay and Puget Sound. A plaque mounted at the base of the bench reads, “Let’s meet up again on the ridgeline. Family and friends of Bill Biddle.” Gatherers shared poetry and prose and toasted the late poet, weatherman and sage with a glass of good Irish whiskey.
