Garden art exhibit opens
The Methow Valley Inn in Twisp will open its Art for the Garden exhibit on Mother’s Day (May 11) with a free event from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The exhibit features works by local artists, and free classes on composting, plant propagation, trees and shrubs. Cascadia concert coming mid-month
Cascadia’s Music Days Celebration performances — featuring an evening show by the Pipestone Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble and Youth Orchestra and afternoon student recitals — will be May 17 and 18 at the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp. The May 17 concert is at 7 p.m., and the May 18 recitals are from 1 – 4 p.m. The concert cost is $15 for adults, $5 for youth, and free for children under 12; the recitals are free. Postcards on letterpress
Learn about traditional letterpress printing and make your own postcards at a workshop with Laura Gunnip at Door No. 3 from 1 – 3 p.m. on May 17. The cost of $75 includes supplies. Merc offers drama camps for kids
The Merc Playhouse Youth Drama Camps will be offered July 7 – 11 and Aug. 4 – 8 at the playhouse in Twisp. The camp director will be Megan Fox Hicks. The camps will run from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a Friday afternoon performance at The Merc. Designed for kids ages 8 and up, the camps focus on performance, with training in acting, singing and dancing. Kids also have a chance to build and design set pieces and costumes.
