
Grace Nordang, 85, lifelong resident of the Methow Valley, died on April 27, 2014, in Brewster. Grace was born May 14, 1928, in Pateros to George and Minnie Brownlee. She attended the Pateros School and was voted Princess Pateros for the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival before graduating in 1947. Grace married Arthur Nordang on Dec. 12, 1948. The couple lived on McFarland Creek from then on. Grace worked seasonally packing apples. Her chosen task was to work hand-in-hand with Art in their orchard and to raise their children.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include Grace’s husband of 65 years, Arthur Nordang; son Greg (Judy) Nordang, Twisp, and their children Joel (Lori) Spencer, Jeffery Spencer and Jennifer (Edwin) Rogers; daughter Suzan (Richard) Turner, Reardan, Wash., and their children Brandon (Heather) Turner, Reardan, and Kristen Turner, San Diego, Calif.; and son Martin Nordang, Methow. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The loss of a life-long pioneer family leaves family and friends each with their own special memories.
A funeral service was held on May 3 at the Church of Christ in Pateros.
