Applications are now available for the May 10 Winthrop ’49er Day parade. To get an entry form, go to winthropwashington.com/event/49er-days. Awards will be given in several categories. The entry deadline is May 9 at 4 p.m. For more information, call 996-2125 or 996-2439.
Twisp likes its trees
For the 14th year, the Town of Twisp is among 84 cities recognized by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources as a Tree City USA, in recognition of efforts to keep urban forests healthy and vibrant. To be acknowledged as a Tree City, a city must have either a tree board or a city department that is responsible for tree care and management, establish a tree ordinance, spend at least $2 per capita on tree care, and celebrate Arbor Day.
