The annual meeting for members of the Okanogan County Electric Cooperative will be held Monday (April 14) at the Barn in Winthrop.
Registration opens at 6 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7 p.m The first 100 members to register will receive an energy efficient LED light bulb.
The program will include an arc flash safety demonstration by OCEC line crew members to show the dangers of contacting overhead and underground lines and electrical equipment attached to the lines.
Discussion topics will include a brief history on the formation of the co-op 75 years ago, an update on OCEC’s Dark Sky Initiative, and an update on propane operations.
The meeting will also include a discussion of the special capital credit distribution for members 80 years or older who request it. Members who qualify will be able to sign up at the meeting.
Elections for three open board positions will be conducted, and each candidate will have an opportunity to address the members.
Incumbents for the three board seats are seeking re-election and are unchallenged.
Ardis Bynum is seeking re-election to the District 2 position; Dale Sekijima and Ray Peterson are seeking re-election to their at-large positions.
Ballots were mailed to members at the end of March. They are due by the close of business on Tuesday (April 15) and can be mailed, brought to the annual meeting or dropped off at the OCEC office.
As always, the meeting will conclude with pies provided by the American Legion Auxiliary No. 120.
