Three Rivers Hospital picks three finalists for CEO job

March 13, 2014 by Methow Valley News

After conducting phone interviews Tuesday (March 11) with four candidates for chief executive officer, the Three Rivers Hospital board of commissioners voted to invite three candidates for in-person interviews.

The Brewster hospital is seeking a replacement for CEO Bud Hufnagel, who will leave at the end of April.

Names of the three finalists for the CEO position were not released Tuesday because the hospital had not confirmed permission from the candidates, said hospital spokesman Rebecca Meadows.

“We hope to have the candidates in the hospital the last week of March for their face-to-face interviews,” said Meadows. “During that time, the candidates will spend some time with CEO Bud Hufnagel and Chair Vicki Orford, touring the hospital and asking and answering questions.”

A special board meeting will be held for the hospital staff and public to meet the candidates, Meadows said.

After the candidates have been interviewed, the board will take public comment and then go into an executive session to discuss candidate qualifications, she said.

Hufnagel was hired in 2011 for a two-year contract, which was renewed last year, to conduct a “turnaround” of the financially troubled Okanogan-Douglas District Hospital, subsequently renamed Three Rivers Hospital. Hufnagel announced in January that he would resign 16 months before his contract ends.
