Three compete at U12 ski championships

March 13, 2014 by Methow Valley News

Loup Loup Alpine Race Team members Eva Weymuller, Olivia Glenn and Aiden Catlin competed in the U12 championships at Stevens Pass last Friday through Sunday.

The three local racers “braved rain, slush and big ruts to perform very well with over 150 athletes attending this race,” said coach Bret Alumbaugh.

Weymuller finished 16th in Friday’s Super G race.

“It was her first time ever racing in this event,” Alumbaugh said.

Weymuller placed 18th in Saturday’s Giant Slalom and Glenn finished 51st.

“Olivia is a U10, so she was racing up in the U12 age division,” Alumbaugh said.

Catlin came in 21st place among boys in the GS.

In Sunday’s slalom events, Catlin finished 17th, Weymuller placed 18th and Glenn 39th.

“All of these kids are the youngest in their age groups so they will return next year for another U12 championship,” Alumbaugh said.

Loup Alpine Team skiers in the U14 age group will travel to Crystal Mountain to compete in the Buddy Werner Championships, Friday through Sunday (March 14 – 16).
