The Okanogan County Planning Commission has recommended amending the county code to require at least twice the minimum lot size for planned developments in rural residential and low-density residential zones in Mazama. The action came at the commission’s public hearing on Monday (Feb. 24).
If the county commissioners approve the changes, it would make zoning in the Upper Valley more consistent with zoning in the rest of the Methow Review District. Planned developments are an alternative to traditional subdivision and often allow greater density in exchange for environmental benefits.
The planning department will prepare an ordinance for review by the county commissioners. No date has been set for their hearing on the amendments.
