“This was the first match we have won all year and shows the steady improvement our team has made this season,” said coach Leverett Hubbard.

Liberty Bell One, comprised of captain Kathleen Chavey-Reynaud, Riley Calvert, Corey Diamond and Rowan Post, won both of their oral rounds and tied Okanogan One in the written portion.

Okanogan One finished in second place overall with a total of 70 points.

Liberty Bell Two, with captain Sebastian Hogness, Skyler Fitzmaurice and Sylvie LeDuc, finished in sixth place with 52 points.

The Mountain Lions were short-handed when the teams traveled to Oroville Monday (Feb. 10) for their last regular match of the season. In competition with the same four schools Liberty Bell hosted the previous week, Liberty Bell Two placed sixth and Liberty Bell One seventh with reconfigured teams.

With the absence of Hogness and LeDuc, coach Hubbard shifted Post to Team Two for the Oroville meet. Claire Waichler, who joins the LBHS teams when not competing for a spot in the Nordic Junior Nationals next month, was also there.

The Mountain Lions will next travel to Chelan on Feb. 26, for regional competition starting at 3:30 p.m.
