Helen Robinson, one of our regular lunch visitors, passed away this past week. We miss her sparkling eyes and ready smile. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to her family.
Hank Konrad and his crew from our local market put on a wonderful luncheon Tuesday in honor of all senior citizens in the valley. He generously provides this event every year. Great food, wonderful music and prizes too. Special thanks to Jim Gariano and his helpers, and to Terry Hardesty and his band.
We have added another day of bingo. Members can now play on the first Monday and the third Thursday of each month. On Friday (Feb. 14), some folks are getting together at the center after lunch to play pinochle. Hopefully we can get a group together to play regularly.
We had another lively afternoon of dancing last Friday afternoon with Bill Hottell and his band of renown providing the music. We always enjoy the dancers from Okanogan and there were a few new local dancers too. Jump and stomp and shout! That’s what this is all about.
Another reminder of our Keith and Tina Houser benefit dinner on Feb. 22 from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp. There will be an exciting silent auction, and raffle items are coming in daily. If you would like to donate an item or two, please contact me at 996-2064 or the senior center. We are honored to help this wonderful family. Hank Konrad is generously providing roast beef and salad. Our very own volunteer five-star cooks will round out this great feed. Look for posters everywhere. Cost is $10 for those over 12, $5 for those younger. Y’all come now, ya hear?
Glad to see snow return. Portland/Vancouver did not appreciate their good fortune while we were there helping my mom. Bring it here, where we realize the value of free water and ski trails.
