This week I am a foreign correspondent in Vancouver, Wash., watching four grandsons under 10. I had forgotten the thrill of stepping on Legos in the dark, spilled milk, just-folded laundry as tug-of-war toys for dogs, and wrangling sleepy boys out the door at 7 a.m. for a wrestling meet. Plus, games unfamiliar to those who remember Pac Man. Our lucky son and wife are on a birthday holiday. Glad we could help, and that a weekend does end.
On top of the above, my mom had a heart attack. We are moving her to a home closer to my sister in Oregon. I hate to think of being an orphan. Pray for my 92-year-old mom, Helen.
It poured rain from gray skies every day. We longed for the valley’s beauty, sunshine, and no freeways. Reinforces why we all left the west side. My husband met a lady who visited a “prominent citizen of Twisp” once, staying in a yurt. He was surprised she had heard of Twisp, and that she was talking about Bill and Suellen White’s property. Small world.
The party this week celebrated Mary Neely’s moving to Wenatchee. Love you Mary. You will be missed by one and all. Be sure to let us know your address and phone.
We are planning a benefit for Keith and Tina Houser at the Methow Valley Community Center on Feb. 22. That family has endured way too much tragedy in the past few years from Keith’s stroke, Tina’s car accident, and now Keith’s cancer. Come join us in helping this wonderful family that needs a little help from their friends, from 4:30-7 p.m. There will be a Hank’s Harvest Foods roast beef dinner, silent auction, and raffles. If you would like to donate an auction item, notify the senior center. The more the better!
