Despite the lack of ski-able snow at the event site, the second annual Methow Valley Ski for Women, a fundraiser for Room One, is still on for this Sunday (Feb. 2), at the Winthrop Town Trailhead.
“It will be a walk around the course this year,” said event organizer Roxie Miller.
Sign-in and costume judging will begin at 12:30 p.m., with the 2-kilometer “party wave” promenade commencing at 1 p.m.
Colorful team costumes, such as the Gray Jays hiking club’s “Ivory-billed Woodpecker” costumes, are encouraged, said Miller.
Prizes for Best Team, Mothers and Daughters and Best Over All will be awarded to the winning costumes.
After a Super Bowl kick-off, all participants will be home in time to watch the big game, Miller said.
All donations go to Room One, the valley’s nonprofit health and social services center.
