Ken Grube is coming along after his back surgery. A big surgery it was, but I hear he is now contemplating skydiving. Way to go, Ken. I enjoy sitting with Ken at Friday’s lunch. Miss you, Ken. I’ll keep your seat warm.
The Senior Center family will greatly miss Mary Neely. Mary is moving to Wenatchee for some assisted living help. We hope your new home appreciates and loves you as much as we do. You have always been a beacon that we admired. Let us know how we can contact you in the big city.
We grieve for those who cannot stay in their homes because of life’s limitations. Someday we hope there will be a facility here in the Methow so people do not have to leave our beautiful part of the world to seek help from strangers elsewhere. If you agree, pray for such a facility right here and soon. Every time I pass the Virginian, I think what a fun little settlement that could be.
Many of you are in the dark when it comes to our book lady, Kathy. She is one of those who serve without asking for recognition. Well, from this day forth you all will know who she is.
As a reader, I love our book department. Kathy keeps abreast of what is new and interesting, from cookbooks to novels — she has it all. She’ll even watch for something you want. When you select a book, a donation in our lock box is all we ask. Your donations of books, which are plentiful, also help with events such as the library book sales, elementary school book swap, Terry Dixon’s books for children at Christmas, and any group that asks. Thanks to every generous donor from the valley for the great reads. We love ya.
