Tav Streit of Hood River, Ore., led 27 skiers over a 30-kilometer course through the Rendezvous area to win the Methow Valley Sport Trails Association’s Methow Valley Pursuit on Saturday.

Streit finished the race in 1 hour, 17 minutes, 26 seconds in the overall results, about two minutes ahead Winthrop’s Gregg Strome (1:19:19) and Laura McCabe (1:19:27), who finished second and third. Fourth was John Spaude of Winthrop (1:23:15).

Local skiers took five of the top 10 spots in the skate skiing event, with Scott Waichler of Winthrop (1:29:15) finishing sixth and Alex Hall of Winthrop (1:33:29) back two positions in eighth place. Other local entrants were Susan Prichard (1:42:39) and Danielle Micheletti (1:43:08), both of Winthrop, in 13th and 14th place respectively.

McCabe was first in the women’s 40-49 age group, with Prichard in third and Micheletti in fourth. Strome took first place in the men’s 40-49 group. Spaude was first in the men’s 50-59 group, followed by Waichler and Hall in second and third.

Because of inconsistent snow conditions on the usual valley-floor race route, the Pursuit’s course was shifted to start at the Cub Creek trailhead, climb over Rendezvous Pass, and drop into the Rendezvous Basin, following the terrain of the Rendezvous Mountain Ski Tour.
