Kids’ art parties
Confluence Gallery & Art Center in Twisp is offering a series of “Art Parties for Kids,” intended for children in grades two through six, beginning Friday (Jan. 24). The cost is $35 for each student, and $30 for each additional student in the same family. There may be additional costs for supplies. To register and get more information, call 997-2787. • Friday (Jan. 24), 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. winter wonderland with Margaret Kingston.
• Jan. 31, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., air-dry dough creations with Margaret Kingston.
• Feb. 14, 17 and 18, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., papier-mâché animals with Laura Gunnip.
Global hip-hop at the Barn
Nomadic Massive, a “global hip-hop” musical group from Montreal, will appear at the Winthrop Barn on Feb. 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Nomadic Massive’s nine members come from seven different countries and rap in several languages. The evening will open with a hip-hop performance by local students.
Tickets are $16 in advance and $20 at the door for adults, $10 for students in grades nine through 12, and $5 for students in eighth grade or younger. Tickets are available at Riverside Printing in Winthrop, Twisp Daily Business, the Methow Arts office in Twisp, and online at www.brownpapertickets.com. Exhibit at The Studio
“The Entropic Tide,” an exhibit of works by the artist Vblast, opens Feb. 8 at The Studio in Twisp. There will be an opening day reception from 4 – 7:30 p.m. The event is free. For more information, call 997-0211.
Dog & cat photo contest
Feb. 10 is the deadline to enter the Winthrop Gallery’s annual Dog & Cat Photo Contest.
Entries must be framed and ready to hang on a wall. The entry fee is $5 per photo. Kids 14 and under may enter one photo free.
Prizes will be awarded in several categories. The photos will be on display at the gallery from Feb. 12 – 24. A reception will be held Feb. 16 from 11a.m. – 3 p.m.
All entry fees will be donated to the Okanogan County spay and neuter clinic.

Watercolor classes
Artist Paula Christen will offer a series of four watercolor classes on consecutive Saturdays beginning Feb. 7 at her studio at 447 Wister in Winthrop. All experience levels are welcome.
