Recycle your cell phone
For the second year, a local effort to collect used cell phones is underway to benefit Hope Phones
(hopephones.org), which puts donated phones to work in helping to provide remote health care in 16 countries. Non-working phones are recycled to provide income for Hope Phones. Last year valley residents donated 63 phones, according to organizer Gina McCoy. Phones can be dropped off at the Twisp and Winthrop libraries.
Wiggle room for kids
Got some little ones who need a little room to run around on cold winter days? The Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp is offering the “Wiggle Room” — actually, the gym — every Wednesday beginning next week, Jan. 8, through March 5, from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $1 or free to community center members. Babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are welcomed, along with their parents or caregivers. Parents are also needed to co-host the Tuesday sessions.
