
Helen Marie Darwood, 83, of Twisp, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 16, 2013.
Helen was born Feb. 6, 1930, to Charlie and Velma Knowles in Chelan, Wash. She attended school at Boyd District in Chelan and Twisp High School.
She met the love of her life, Donald Hugh Darwood, at the Carlton skating rink. They married on Aug. 17, 1946, and shared 49 amazing love-filled years together. Don passed away on Sept. 30, 1995.
Helen was an avid bowler for 25 years and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for many years.
She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and homemaker, who also helped raise many generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband, Don, father Charlie, mother Velma, sisters Edna, Mildred, Edith, Rita and Betty, and brothers Clayton, Harold, Lonnie and Lennie.
Helen is survived by her five children, Wayne and wife Darralyn, Sharon Cathcart and husband, Butch, Punky McConnell and husband, Gary, Ron and wife, Eda, and Shannon and significant other, Chuck; sisters Vera and Dorothy and brother Don; grandchildren Travis, Rowdy and Honey Watson, Jason and Kasey Darwood, Summer Triese, Dody Bertram and Dallas Darwood; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial was held Dec. 21 at Helen’s home. Precht-Harrison-Nearants Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
