Junior high basketball boys cap learning season

December 19, 2013 by Methow Valley News

By Mike Maltais

The Liberty Bell junior high boys’ basketball team was scheduled to end its season against visiting Brewster Tuesday (Dec. 17), and while the boys were winless coming into the final game with the Bears, coach Lee Pilkinton was satisfied with the progress his players made this year.

“We got off to kind of a rocky start,” said Pilkinton. “But as the season progressed the team improved in just about every way.”

The junior team, comprised of six eighth graders and 10 seventh graders, played 10 games this season against seven opponents including Okanogan, Tonasket, Brewster, Bridgeport, Grand Coulee, Oroville and Omak.

Pilkinton and David Aspholm coached the junior high team this year.

Eighth graders on the team are Eden Davis, Grayson Alexander, Tim Haley, Quinton Knox, Carson Gunnip Hunter and Nathan Gray.

Seventh graders are Forest Rickabaugh, Gavin Headlee, Alex Garcia, Wyatt Scott, Leo Shaw, Jude Klemmeck, Sam Neitlich, Simon Studen, Lazo Gitchos and Braden White.
