The first of three Backyard Ski Day Days sponsored by the Methow Valley Sport Trails Association (MVSTA) will be Friday (Dec. 13), starting at the Chickadee Trailhead at Sun Mountain. The event will offer a variety of activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• All MVSTA ski trails are free to everyone all day. MVSTA will offer free trailside snacks and snowcat groomer rides.
• Free ski rentals will be available through Winthrop Mountain Sports, Methow Cycle and Sport, and Methow Valley Ski School. Reservations suggested.
• Free beginner classic or skate ski lessons will be offered at 10 a.m. at the trailhead, courtesy of Methow Valley Ski School.
• Free ice skating and ice skate rentals will be available at the Winthrop Ice & Sports Rink during open-skate hours.
