Learn to make a photo box
Artists looking for a way to produce better photographs of their works can learn how to make a simple but effective “photo box” in a workshop on Saturday (Dec. 14) from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at Confluence Gallery in Twisp. Joanne Marracci of Marracci Designs Jewelry and Nicole Ringgold of Confluence Gallery and Live In Art Jewelry will conduct the workshop. Applicants may bring a digital camera, a small item to photograph and a tripod. Cost is $20. For more information, call 997-2787.
Student art exhibit
A student art show featuring works from Methow Valley schools as well as contributions from Pateros, Brewster, Bridgeport, Omak and Okanogan, will be at TwispWorks on Saturday (Dec. 14) from noon to 8 p.m. The free event will be in the north warehouse. Apply for artists’ fellowships
Washington state artists practicing in music, media, literary and craft arts can apply for the 2014 Artist Trust Fellowships — $7,500 awards that recognize 14 practicing professional artists of exceptional talent and demonstrated ability. Artist Trust also will partner with the Millay Colony in Austerlitz, N.Y., to provide one artist each in the literary and music disciplines a one-month long residency at the Colony and a $1,000 stipend.
Applicants must apply online by visiting www.artisttrust.org. The deadline is Jan. 13, 2014. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older by the application deadline date, be a generative artist, and be a resident of Washington state at the time of application and when the award is granted.
