Need proof that elk populate some of the surrounding hills? Twisp resident Charles McCarthy crossed tracks with this big bull elk on the south side of the Loup Loup summit earlier this month. McCarthy took advantage of the new snowfall during the first week of November to track the trophy and downed it with a Remington .308 bolt action. Preliminary antler measurements indicate that the rack will score in excess of 300 points.
