Book sales benefit school libraries

Trail’s End Bookstore in Winthrop will reduce prices and donate part of its sales to local school libraries on Thursday and Friday (Nov. 21-22). All merchandise will be reduced by 5 percent, and 10 percent of each day’s sales will be donated to librarians at Methow Valley Elementary School (Thursday) and Liberty Bell High School (Friday) to use for purchasing books. Librarians also get an educator discount. For more information, call 996-2345.

Free movies in Mazama

The Mazama Community Club will present three short, independent films at Winter Free Movie Night on Tuesday (Nov. 26) beginning at 7 p.m. at the club building on Goat Creek Road. The movies are Nils Larsen’s Skiing in the Shadow of Genghis Khan, Fred Wert’s Flying the North Cascades, and Homegrown Ski Areas of North Central Washington. The popcorn’s free, too. For more information, call 996-3375.

Take a tour of Bluebird

Bluebird Grain Farms will offer its annual open house and granary tour on Nov. 30 and again on Dec. 14, from 2-4 p.m. each day at the farm on Rendezvous Road north of Winthrop. Tours last about 30 minutes. To RSVP for the free event, call 996-3526 or email joseph@bluebirdgrainfarms.com.
