“We’re starting to crank up plans for next year’s Women in Aviation Week,” reports Twisp pilot and event organizer Bob Hoffman.
The 2014 event will run from March 3-9, with the goal of exceeding the number of free flights that were given last year and “encouraging young ladies to think about aviation as a career,” Hoffman said.
Women in Aviation Week premiered last March at the Twisp Municipal Airport with 194 girls and women receiving free airplane rides and over $1,000 raised for Room One.
Hoffman is looking for a corporate sponsor this time to help defray the costs to the pilots who donate their airplanes and services to the cause. A committee meeting to begin organizing next year’s event will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Bob Ulrich’s hangar at the Twisp airport.
