Another Open Merc!

Start tuning up for the next session of Open Merc! at The Merc Playhouse in Twisp on Oct. 17 beginning at 7 p.m.

Musicians and performers of all types are invited to take part in the event, which is hosted by Egon Steinebach. There is no cover charge; beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Get ready to read

Methow Asylum for Writers will present its “Fall Read-out Social” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the Trail’s End Bookstore in Winthrop.

The free event is intended for both prose writers and poets, at any skill level. Bring your open ears, creative thoughts and a piece of writing to read aloud.

OVOC sets auditions for Wizard of Oz

The Okanogan Valley Orchestra & Chorus (OVOC) will hold auditions in November for its May 2014 production of The Wizard of Oz.

Auditions will begin on Nov. 16 at 9 a.m. at The Performing Arts Center. Those auditioning are asked to bring a lunch. The cast will consist of 10 to 15 women, 10 to 15 men and 15 to 20 children. All roles include dancing and expressive movement.

The show will be presented May 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 at the Omak Performing Arts Center. For more information, call (509) 322-0261 or email ovocinfo@gmail.com.
