The Town of Winthrop is currently accepting letters of intent to fill a vacancy on the Town Council.
Interested candidates must be registered voters and reside within the town limits of Winthrop. Applications will be accepted until Oct. 1.
Position 2 became vacant at the end of August after the resignation of council member Tiffany Langdalen, who moved out of town. Position 2 expires on Dec. 31, 2013.
The town must appoint a citizen to fill the unexpired term until the winner of the November election is sworn in in January. One person, Michael Strulic, is on the ballot for that position.
“This could be a great opportunity for somebody who wanted to try it out, but didn’t want to commit long-term to be on the council,” said mayor pro tem Mort Banasky at last week’s council meeting (Sept. 18).
