If you thought the official arrival of fall signaled the end of the trail bike and running events, then you overlooked the upcoming second annual Methow Valley Off-Road Duathlon set for 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 28) at Sun Mountain.
Hosted by the North Cascades Mountain Hostel in Winthrop, the Duathlon will feature a 40-kilometer bike race anchored by a 10K trail run starting and ending at the Chickadee Trailhead above Patterson Lake.
Racers can register as late as Friday (Sept. 27). The $40 fee for individuals or $75 for a team will include a free spaghetti dinner, prizes, and after-race party with local micro-brews and gourmet foods.
Competitors can register and enjoy the spaghetti dinner from 5-8 p.m. Friday at North Cascades Mountain Hostel, 209 Castle Ave., Winthrop, or sign up online at www.databarevents.com.
