Writers’ group

A prose and poetry writers’ group is forming under the auspices of Methow Asylum for Writers. The first meeting is on Monday (Sept. 16) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Pipestone Music rooms at the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp.

Future meetings will be on the third Monday of each month. Bring work to share for constructive feedback.  A nominal fee is charged for room rental. For more information, call Christine Kendall at 997-9070.

Art party

Confluence Gallery & Art Center will host the first of a series of art parties for kids on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., featuring sun printing and nature installations with local artist Laura Gunnip.

Cost is $35 for the first artist in a family, and $30 for each additional artist. The parties are designed for second- through sixth-grade students. Call 997-2787 for more information.

Comedy

Four Seattle comedians will take the stage when comedy night returns to the Twisp River Pub on Sept. 21. Featured will be headliner Rodney Sherwood, runner-up in the Seattle International Comedy Competition and an accomplished television and motion picture actor; Jen Seaman, who has appeared on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent;” Nigel Larson, a transplant from New York who also does commercials; and Robert Pidde, who has won the Comedy on Trial Comedy Competition.

The show begins at 8:30 p.m. with a $5 cover charge. For more information, call 997-6822.
