Senior News: Aug. 14, 2013

August 14, 2013 by Methow Valley News

Senior-AD-4-pageBy Rosalie Hutson

What a light show Mother Nature gave us Saturday night, as we were up scurrying around closing windows and lighting the candles.

I could imagine everyone doing the same. Hubby was telling about the lightning storm he was in the summer he was on Monument 83. That’s not for me. Thanks to Lightning Bill Austin for enjoying his job on Goat Peak.

Nothing exciting happened last week at the center. So news is scarce.

It was nice to have Vernon Bame back and around after his major surgery. He said he wasn’t up to any footraces yet.

Thursday (Aug. 15) is bingo day, and Friday is dance day with Albert Ames playing country western music.

Senior menu (subject to change):

Thur, Aug. 15: Spaghetti and meat sauce, Caesar salad, Italian vegetables, chilled peaches, garlic bread, ice cream.

Fri, Aug. 16: Hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, raw vegetable tray and dip, watermelon, frosted cake.

Mon, Aug. 19: Sweet and sour pork, rice, stir fry vegetables, apple celery salad, garlic bread, cookies.

Thur, Aug. 22: Country fried steak, mashed potatoes and country gravy, green beans, coleslaw, chilled apricots, whole wheat roll, brownies.
