With about 40 senior members attending, we had our summer barbecue picnic last Wednesday. John Jumper, John Koch and John Fleming manned the barbecues and did the burgers, and the volunteers made potato salad and beans and all the trimmings with ice cream cones for desert.
Three door prizes were given out. Two were rummage room treasures and the third was the big one, and Howard Brewer was the lucky winner. He thought he got a real prank when he found a roll of toilet paper in the bag, but when he unrolled it a little he found four $5 dollar bills taped inside. Everyone had a good laugh, and he was a happy winner.
Albert Ames was kind enough to entertain us with some good old country western music. Thanks, Albert, and a big thanks to all who helped in the kitchen too. We will try to do it again next year.
July is almost gone and we are heading into another month of heat. Our senior for the month of August is Evelyn Darwood and the winner of Monday’s door prize gift basket was Lulu Belle Ames.
Friday (Aug. 2) is dance day. On Aug. 8 there will be blood pressure checks before lunch.
