Confluence celebrates its 25th
Confluence Gallery and Art Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary on July 13 with a gala event at Pipestone Canyon Ranch on Balky Hill Road. The event will be from 5-11 p.m. and will include live and silent art auctions, plus music and dancing with the Hunt-Westendorf Quintet with special guest Laura Love. The master of ceremonies will be Danbert Nobacon. Cost is $50 per person. Reservations are required. Tickets are available now through Confluence or online at BrownPaperTickets.com. Wine, weaving and woodwork
The Lost River Winery tasting room on Highway 20 in Winthrop is showing the work of local artists Rick and Katie Swanson through mid-September. Summer hours at the tasting room are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday through Monday. Katie Swanson is a hand weaver, and is showing a variety of wearables and items for the home at the tasting room exhibit. Rick Swanson has been a professional woodworker for over 40 years. For this exhibit he has returned to his roots as a furniture maker. For more information call 996-2888.
Into the MAW
The Methow Asylum for Writers (MAW) invites writers of all skill levels to meet, talk, brainstorm and share their work on July 18 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Confluence Gallery and Art Center in Twisp. Pottery and palaver
Local ceramics artist Matt Armbrust is hosting “Sip ’n’ Spin,” an opportunity to practice pot-throwing skills or just chat, at the TwispWorks north warehouse from 6-9 p.m. every Wednesday night through the end of August. Call for visual artists
Confluence Gallery and Art Center invites visual artists to participate in “Visions of Verse,” an exhibit in which visual artists respond to the work(s) of writers. The show runs from Nov. 9 to Jan. 4, 2014. Artists are invited to create up to five pieces, responding to any of the 33 pre-selected written works. Interested artists may contact Confluence for copies of the 33 written works. Submissions are due to Confluence by Sept. 13. For more information call 997-2787.
