Long-time Winthrop resident Murielle M. Pankey passed away March 5, 2013, in Vancouver, Wash., after a long illness. She had moved to Oregon in the 1990s to be closer to her daughters. Murielle was born March 8, 1936, at Vancouver, Wash.
Murielle was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Hazel Smith, of Malott.
She is survived by her sisters Betty (Richard) Barnes, Denver, Colo., and Janet Hickey, Brewster; her two daughters, Dawn M. Halstead and Connie C. Hart, both of McMinnville, Ore.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She will be greatly missed, but take comfort that she is no longer in pain.
