Aging & Adult Care of Central Washington is again offering its Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which distributes food vouchers to seniors in six counties including Okanogan.
Qualifying low-income seniors who are at least 60 years old and are legal U.S. citizens can receive $40 in vouchers that can be used to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables and honey at participating farmers markets and roadside stands in Adams, Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Okanogan, and Lincoln counties. Vouchers are good from June to October.
Seniors must bring their Washington state driver’s license or ID card with them to verify age, residence and citizenship. They will receive a list of qualifying farmers markets and roadside stands that will accept the vouchers, as well as educational information and recipes.
Distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis. Vouchers will be distributed only at certain locations. Near or in the Methow, they are:
• June 3 – Brewster Senior Center, 100 S. Bridge St., Brewster, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
• June 11 – Omak Senior Center, 214 N. Juniper St., Omak, 10-11:30 a.m.
