Lord of the ridge

    A mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus) keeps watch from a ridge near the headwaters of Early Winters Creek last week. More closely related to cattle and antelope than true goats, mountain goats are vegetarian, spending most of their days grazing for grasses, ferns, shrubs and lichens.
