Local illustrator Eli Klemmeck takes up his residency on Feb. 1.

Illustrator and Methow Valley resident Eli Klemmeck is the winter/spring Confluence Gallery and Art Center artist-in-residence, starting Feb. 1 and continuing through April 30.

Klemmeck will have a solo exhibit at the gallery in Twisp on April 21. The residency includes three free months of studio space.

Klemmeck is primarily an illustrator, creating most of his work with pen and pencil in only black and white, according to a Confluence news release.

“Occasionally he will add light ink washes or do larger pieces in black and grey watercolor,” the press release said.

Klemmeck draws much of his inspiration from the natural world, adding his own twist of otherworldly imagination, the press release said. During his residency, Klemmeck will work on creating more-complex compositions.
