The Town of Twisp will advertise for applicants to fill a seat held by Josh Thomson, who chose not to seek election to the position.

Thomson was appointed to the council in December 2016, and would have had to seek and win election last November to remain on the board. He said he chose not to continue as a council member because, “after seeing how much time it takes to do the [council] job right” it was difficult to balance the demands of the council with his work for Okanogan County Public Works and his family. “It’s a great council,” Thomson said.

Mayor Soo Ing-Moody said she expects the vacant position to be advertised in January. The term of the council position ends Dec. 31, 2019.

Thomson replaced Bob Lloyd, who resigned after his construction and excavation business won a large street construction bid, which disqualified him from continuing to serve on the council due to conflict of interest laws.
