The Tube Hill Run was one leg of the Community Challenge relay races at the Loup last weekend.

The second Annual Loup Loup Community Challenge Relay last weekend saw 19 three-person teams compete in Giant Slalom (some on skis, some on snowboards), Tube Hill Run Up and Slide Down, and the 3K Nordic course. The teams with the fastest combined times won top prizes.

First place, with a final time of 9:20.02, went to team HMS Destroyer, with Sydney Schuller on Giant Slalom, Hank Schuler on Tube Hill Run, and Mike Hutchins on Nordic. The Destroyers won a two-night stay at Sun Mountain Lodge, equipment tune-ups and other merchandise from the Loup Loup Rental Shop.

Second place, with a final time of 9:34.19, went to team Good Grundage, with Ben Goodman on Grand Slalom, Danielle Grundy on Tube Hill and David Grundy on Nordic. The Grundages won a two-night stay at Rolling Huts, equipment tune-ups and other merchandise from the Loup Loup Rental Shop.

Third place, with a final time of 9:59.53, went to team Snow White and the Two Dorks, with Harold Sheley on Grand Slalom, Leki Albright on Tube Hill and Hanz Scholtz on Nordic. Snow White won gift certificates from Goat’s Beard Mountain Supply and equipment tune-ups and other merchandise from the Loup Loup Rental Shop.

Other winners: 7-year-old Luke Sawyer and 68-year-old Cindy Metler won jackets from Methow Cycle & Sport as the youngest and eldest competitors.

Everyone who registered won prizes and got a complimentary lunch. Noah Ashford provided dance music and lively commentary throughout the event. Plans are already underway for the 2018 Community Challenge Relay.
