The Lady Lions soccer team headed into a big showdown with undefeated Brewster this week riding the momentum of a five-game winning streak, after dispatching Manson and Oroville in last week’s matches.

On Sept. 27, Liberty Bell traveled to Manson and came away with a 4-2 victory. Haley Post scored two goals, and Anna Post and Cece Odell added one each.

The Lady Lions followed that up with a 4-nil win over visiting Oroville on Thursday (Sept. 29). Liberty Bell dominated play, with the visitors making few forays toward the Lady Lions’ net.

Sally Thornton-White scored Liberty Bell’s first goal at the 30-minute mark of the first half. Maya Sheely followed with another score at 7:05, and the half ended with Liberty Bell up 2-0.

Haley Post found the net at the 38-minute mark of the second half, and Natalie Treise finished the Lady Lions’ scoring with 21 minutes left, registering her first goal of the year.

“Our team continues to improve. They have a great work ethic and a lot of fun so the season is off to a good start,” Liberty Bell coach Lincoln Post said.

Against Oroville, the coach said, “Our defense throughout the game was strong and did not give Oroville opportunities to score. Freshman Ali Palm improves with each game and is quickly becoming a force on defense. Natalie [Treise] had her first goal of the season and is playing great soccer even though this is her first year. Maya [Sheely] is also providing a real spark on offense with her speed and determination.”

“I really love to see the enthusiasm and encouragement that this team has for each other,” the coach added. “It should really help us as we progress through our season.”

Liberty Bell, 6-1-1 on the season, traveled to Brewster on Tuesday (Oct. 4) for a contest against the Bears, who were 6-0 going into that match. The Lady Lions host Tonasket on Thursday (Oct. 6) beginning at 4:30 p.m., then travel to Bridgeport on Tuesday (Oct. 11).
