Local foods are featured at the garden party.

Classroom in Bloom is celebrating both the harvest and the culinary magic of local chefs with hearty appetizers and drinks at “A Taste of the Garden” next month.

The garden party will feature zucchini fritters with chutney, caramelized onion tarts, gazpacho, morel mushroom paté and more. In addition, there will be a cash bar with wine, beer and a cordial made with elderflowers. Classroom in Bloom staff hope this will be the first of an annual celebration of locally grown and wild-sourced foods and beverages.

The harvest event is Saturday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Classroom in Bloom garden on the campus of the Methow Valley School District. Tickets are $25 per person. The party is for adults; child care will be arranged if there is sufficient interest.

Buy tickets and RSVP by Sept. 1 at www.classroominbloom.org or to kate@classroominbloom.org or (509) 449-6671.
