Eight local homes will be featured in Confluence Gallery’s 15th annul Methow Valley Home Tour on Saturday (Aug. 6).
The theme of this year’s tour, which is presented in partnership with the Okanogan Conservation District, is “Firewise Homes: Fire Adapted Building and Landscaping.” The self-guided tour, which will include local examples of the best practices of Firewise living, will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person or $20 per person for carpools of four or more. Tickets and tour maps are available at the gallery in Twisp. For more information, call 997-2787.
The tour will be preceded on Friday (Aug. 5) by a free presentation at Confluence by Kirsten Cook of the Okanogan Conservation District, starting at 7 p.m. Cook’s theme will be “Living with Fire: Your Role in a Fire Adapted Methow Valley,” an introduction to the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to be ready for wildfire.
Homes in Twisp and Winthrop as well as one commercial location are part of this year’s tour. Cook and other members of her team, as well as volunteers from Chumstick Foundation in Leavenworth, will be at the home sites during the tour.
