Thanks from Mazama

Dear Editor:

On Saturday (May 28), the Mazama Community Club hosted the World Famous Pancake Breakfast, Flea Market and Fun Run. As the novice race director, I had some anxieties about organizing the event, but my worries came to naught and the race(s) came off splendidly. I want to say thanks to my crew of wonderful, smiling volunteers, to the landowners who graciously gave permission for the runners to cross their property, to all the runners who supported the Mazama Community Club and the Headwaters Campaign, and Methow Trails, who let us use their equipment. I am privileged to live in such a great community.

Midge Cross, Mazama

Support appreciated

Dear Editor:

I am writing on behalf of the Liberty Bell High School baseball team to express gratitude for the generous support of the Kiwanis and the Liberty Bell Booster Club during our trip to the state playoffs. As they do for all local athletes headed to state competition, these organizations provided funds that allowed our players to enjoy a free meal while on the road.

This turned out to be particularly helpful in our case, as our trip was extended by an extra day and several hundred extra miles as a result of a torrential downpour in Spokane. The generosity of Booster Club and Kiwanis helped us immensely as we toured the state in the process of completing our game, and we remain grateful for their kindness.
