SEPA DETERMINATION OF NONSIGNIFICANCE (DNS)

US 97, MP 160.2-160.4 PULL OUT EXTENSION AND BERM INSTALLATION
Description of current proposal: The project consists of excavation of up to 300 cubic yards to construct a sediment basin immediately upstream of the culvert conveying Leecher Creek under SR153 at MP 24.35. This would capture sediment and improve flow into the culvert. The proposed basin is designed to capture the high volumes of sediment which has buried the SR 153 culvert and over topping SR 153. Drainage in this area was severely affected by the recent Carlton Complex fires and subsequent flooding.

Lead agency: Washington State Department of Transportation. The Washington State Department of Transportation, the lead agency for this proposal, has determine that it does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030 (2)(c). This decision was made after review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on the file with the lead agency. This information is available to the public on request.
This DNS is issued under WAC 197-11-340(2); the lead agency will not act on this proposal for 14 days from the date below. Comments must be submitted by March 21, 2016.
