Jenn Tate, owner of Earth & Sky Studios in Twisp, has purchased Chelan-based Cevado Technologies, which designs websites for local businesses and other customers throughout the United States.
Cevado Technologies was founded in 1996 and specializes in real estate websites. The company currently employs about 12 people. Cevado founder and original owner Chris Raines will remain on staff as senior designer. The Cevado Technologies building at 502 E. Woodin in Chelan was included in the sale and will remain the company’s center of operation.
Earth & Sky Studios, founded in 1999, provides businesses and nonprofit organizations with brand identity, marketing, website development, graphic design and social media strategy.
As owner and director of marketing at Earth & Sky Studios, Tate has 16 years of experience working with state and county tourism, small local business, arts and theater, including extensive work the past two summers in fire recovery efforts.
Raines said in a press release that he’s excited that the association with Earth & Sky will add a level of marketing expertise that will help Cevado to continue to expand its business.
Tate said there are no immediate changes planned for either company’s products or employees. She said the companies will operate separately but will be able to share resources. Tate will also continue her work with the Okanogan County Tourism Council.
In an interview, Tate said she and Raines have been friends “for a long time” and she is familiar with Cevado’s work. “We’ve been collaborating or competing since 2001,” Tate said.
Conversations about a sale began around last Thanksgiving, Tate said, leading to a “whirlwind January” as the details were finalized. “He [Raines] was ready to step down from the helm,” she said.
Tate said she’s feeling “absolutely fantastic” about the deal. “We have a great team of incredible people,” she said.
