A 56-year-old Arlington man was killed Saturday afternoon (June 7)  when his motorcycle collided with a car on Highway 153 about seven miles south of Twisp, the Washington State Patrol reported.

James E. Stutzman was northbound at about 5:40 p.m. when a southbound car driven by Gloria M. Mathyer, 51, of Spokane, crossed the center  line, according to the State Patrol. Stutzman’s motorcycle struck Mathyer’s car and both vehicles ended up off the roadway, the report said.

Stutzman died en route to Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster, according  to the State Patrol. A passenger on Stutzman’s motorcycle, Cynthia J.  Stutzman, 60, also of Arlington, was injured and taken to Three Rivers  Hospital, the State Patrol said. Both were wearing helmets.

Mathyer was also injured and transported to Three Rivers Hospital,  according to the report. She was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol  said. Mathyer’s car was totaled and towed to a State Patrol impound lot.

The accident remains under investigation and possible charges are  pending, according to the State Patrol report, which indicated that  drugs or alcohol may have been involved.
