Cove food drive bags mailed this week
Plastic collection bags for The Cove Methow Valley Food Bank’s 15th annual food drive will be mailed to valley residents on Saturday (May 10).
The drive will be conducted on May 15 with the help of post offices in Twisp, Winthrop, Carlton and Methow. Residents are asked to put appropriate food items in the bag and hang it on their mailbox on that day for pick-up by postal carriers.
In conjunction with the food drive, The Cove will celebrate its 16th anniversary with an open house on May 15 from noon – 4 p.m. Free hot dogs and chili will be served.
If you receive mail at a post office box, food collection bins will be available in the post office lobbies. Volunteers will pick up those donations at the end of the day.
Suggested items for donation include canned meats, fruits, vegetables, stews, noodles, cereals and personal hygiene items such as shampoo and laundry detergent. The Cove Food Bank serves 75 to 100 families each week. Cash donations can be mailed to The Cove, P.O. Box 895, Twisp, WA 98856. For more information, call 997-0227.
