We meet again, just you and me, face to face, and I’m tellin’ you to bring all the ladies in your life to our Ladies Tea on Saturday (April 5) from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. If you miss it, well, there is no help for you. This is the valley’s high-society event of the year.
You will be pampered with tiny sandwiches sans that pesky crust, tea, lemonade with strawberries freshly grown in the Hank’s Harvest Foods freezer, and so many exquisite desserts you will think you have died and gone to heaven. Must-have flower arrangements by Shirley Northcott will be for sale. Pianist Michael Blackledge will thrill you. Those handsome guys of the Kiwanis will take your picture in our special wicker chair, free of charge. We have furs and hats to augment a fun shot.
This is for all ladies, even the wiggly 3-feet-tall variety. The cost is a mere $5 for anyone older than 12, $3 for all the rest. Being in your second childhood does not qualify you for the $3, nor does childish behavior — although they are letting me in. We will all have name tags. I would love to meet you — after all, we talk once a week. I will be the one in the gingham apron. Wait, I forgot — we’ll all have vintage gingham aprons.
Friday (April 4) is dance day, when the ladies are all beautiful and the gents handsome. Come join the frivolity and dance the afternoon away. Most come for lunch at noon. After tables are cleared away by muscle-bound gentlemen, the band strikes a tune. Such a fun time.
April 12 is our much anticipated Spring Sale from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. You will be very confused, but delighted. There are so many wonderful things that your poor little mind will spin into space. But have no fear; we’ll be there to help. We’ve been saving for this all year and can’t wait for you to see it all.
Thursday, April 3: Chicken and broccoli casserole, herbed noodles, carrot raisin salad, Mandarin oranges, whole wheat roll, cookies.
Friday, April 4: Lasagna, Italian vegetables, tossed green salad, fruit cup, French bread, Jell-O.
Monday, April 7: Parmesan chicken, mashed garlic potatoes, seasoned zucchini, Caesar salad, apricots, frosted cake.
Thursday, April 10: Baked pork chops, parsley potatoes, green beans, garden salad, applesauce, whole wheat roll, tapioca pudding.
Friday, April 11: Meat loaf, parsley potatoes, carrot coins, lettuce and tomato salad, whole wheat roll, fruity Jell-O.
Meals are at noon in the Methow Valley Senior Center on Highway 20 in Twisp. The suggested donation is $3.25 for seniors over age 60; cost is $8 for those under 60. For more information, call 997-7722.
