Work up your appetite for the Bite
The annual Bite of the Methow, the biggest fundraiser of the year for a host of Winthrop Kiwanis community projects, will be on March 15 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Winthrop Barn. The Bite will feature food prepared by more than 20 local chefs, from entrees to desserts, who will compete for “best of” honors. There will be silent and live auctions of items donated by local businesses and individuals.
Last year, the event drew about 350 people who bid on items donated by 189 local contributors, and had gross income of $34,000 according to Kiwanis.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Kiwanis members. For more information, call 997-1086.
Brew festival in Winthrop
Mark your calendars for June 21, when the Old Schoolhouse Brewery will host a brew festival at the Winthrop Ice & Sports Rink, which is expected to be free of ice by then. The event will be family friendly, according to brewery co-owner Laura Ruud, and will include live music. More details will be available later, Ruud said.
