The Liberty Bell High School varsity Knowledge Bowl teams showed continued improvement in the countdown to regional competition as they brain-powered their way to fourth- and fifth-place finishes among a field of 16 teams at Manson on Jan. 27.

Liberty Bell One, comprised of Corey Diamond, Riley Calvert and Rowan Post, captured fourth under the guidance of team captain Kathleen Chavey-Reynaud.

Captain Sebastian Hogness led Liberty Bell Two, with Skyler Fitzmaurice and Sylvie Le Duc, to fifth place.

Commenting on the progress of both teams, coach Leverett Hubbard noted that Liberty Bell One has finished sixth, eighth, fifth and fourth in their four tournaments so far this year.

Liberty Bell Two has finished with a 10th, a seventh, and two fifth places in their four tournaments.

Liberty Bell will host the next Knowledge Bowl on Wednesday (Feb. 5) at 4 p.m.

The LBHS teams have one more tournament next week in Oroville before the regionals in Chelan, Hubbard said.

The Mountain Lions need “to maintain their current level of play to win at the North Central Regional Competition to earn a berth at the state competition in late March in Arlington,” Hubbard said.
