A story in the Dec. 25 issue incorrectly identified the co-owner of the Hotel Rio Vista in Winthrop. He is Paul Peterson. The News regrets the error.

In the holiday section of the Dec. 25 issue, two of the student writing contributions were inadvertently switched. They should have read:

“My favorite part about Christmas is Jesus’ birthday when he was born and the presents too. My cousins come and we open them in a circle. We also go skiing together and it is really fun. After that we go home and eat cinnamon rolls.” — Dashe McCabe

“I like the presents. I like the presents under the tree. The presents are important to me. The presents come on Christmas night.” — Caleb Smith

Corrections

An article in the July 3 issue about a proposal to create a valley-wide parks and recreation district contained two errors.

The Twisp Town Council did not “endorse” the proposal as reported, but approved the formation of the district to include the Town of Twisp. The town is restricted by law from endorsing this type of proposal by a third party (the citizens).

The district would not be funded by a sales tax, as reported in the article. It could be funded in many ways including a property tax levy.

In the July 3 issue, the wrong email address was listed for the Methow Asylum for Writers (MAW) July 18 event. The correct address is asylum98856@yahoo.com.

The News regrets the errors.
