In the Jan. 8 story about the Antlers Saloon and Café, Billy Paradis was mistakenly identified as Johnny Paradis. Johnny was Billy’s brother and lived in Okanogan. The News regrets the error.

A story in the Dec. 25 issue incorrectly identified the co-owner of the Hotel Rio Vista in Winthrop. He is Paul Peterson. The News regrets the error.

In the holiday section of the Dec. 25 issue, two of the student writing contributions were inadvertently switched. They should have read:

“My favorite part about Christmas is Jesus’ birthday when he was born and the presents too. My cousins come and we open them in a circle. We also go skiing together and it is really fun. After that we go home and eat cinnamon rolls.” — Dashe McCabe

Because of a typographical error, a letter to the editor from Bill Hottell in the Sept. 25 issue included an erroneous date for the arrival of the Filer family in the Methow Valley. The date should have been 1887. The News regrets the error, which was not Bill’s doing.

Wrong date for insert

The Winthrop Ace Hardware insert included in the July 17 issue of the Methow Valley News was distributed prematurely. The News regrets the error.




July 10, 2013


An article in the July 3 issue about a proposal to create a valley-wide parks and recreation district contained two errors.

The Twisp Town Council did not “endorse” the proposal as reported, but approved the formation of the district to include the Town of Twisp. The town is restricted by law from endorsing this type of proposal by a third party (the citizens).

The district would not be funded by a sales tax, as reported in the article. It could be funded in many ways including a property tax levy.

In the July 3 issue, the wrong email address was listed for the Methow Asylum for Writers (MAW) July 18 event. The correct address is

An item in the June 12 issue listed the wrong date for the Confluence Gallery & Art Center’s 25th anniversary gala. The event will be on July 13. The News regrets the error.

In the Feb. 13 paper’s sports section, the results of the Wolf Chase Race at the Loup Loup Ski Bowl incorrectly listed Loup Loup Alpine Race Team member Hannah Weymuller as placing third in Saturday’s U14 giant slalom. Weymuller finished in second place in the GS. The News regrets the error.
