Liberty Bell High School’s two Knowledge Bowl teams placed sixth and tenth in competition against 20 other teams from Chelan, Manson, Oroville, Tonasket, Omak and host Okanogan last Monday (Dec. 9).
Coach Leverett Hubbard brought in a few new players to fill out the rosters of both Liberty Bell teams for the Okanogan meet.
Liberty Bell One, comprised of captain Kathleen Chavey-Reynaud, Corey Diamond, Sebastian Hogness and Patti Watson, won both of their oral rounds and ended with 57 points. The team also scored the third-highest among all teams on the written round.
Liberty Bell Two, made up of captain Riley Calvert, Skyler Fitzmaurice, Rowan Post, Claire Waichler and Sylvie LeDuc, finished in 10th place.
Okanogan won the overall title with 81 points.
“They have a strong team,” Hubbard said of the Bulldogs. “And they had a strong team last year as well.”
The Knowledge Bowl team will give their brains a rest through the upcoming holidays and be back in competition at Tonasket on Jan. 13.
