The Evergreen brand is coming back to the Methow Valley.
Winthrop Red Apple Market announced that effective Dec. 1, it will become a member of the Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA) and will be renamed Evergreen IGA.
At one time there were Evergreen grocery stores in Winthrop and Twisp. The Methow Valley News is housed in the old Evergreen grocery building in Twisp.
Evergreen IGA owner Mike Walker said that “over the past few years we expanded and remodeled our store to better serve the needs of Methow Valley residents and visitors. Partnering with IGA allows us to leverage those efforts — along with our 50-year history in the community — to a whole other level of success.”
Evergreen IGA will carry more than 200 IGA private-label brand products and offer IGA promotions.
The store is at 920 Highway 20 in Winthrop and is open Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The store’s new website is www.EvergreenIGA.com.
IGA is the world’s largest group of independent grocers with aggregate worldwide retail sales of more than $29 billion per year. The alliance has operations in 46 of the United States and more than 30 countries, commonwealths and territories.
